How To Relax When Your Kids Are Driving You Crazy

Friday, October 21, 2011 Posted by Shattered Paradigm

Parenthood is a state that comes with a divine experience in addition to all the screams and headaches and late nights sit ups and so on. It is true that children are cute and funny but they are naughty and painful too. It is very necessary for the parents, especially the mother to keep herself relaxed while dealing with her child. Relaxing while your child is driving you nuts seems to be impossible but following certain tips given below will definitely help you to relax and spend quality time with your child without frustration and helplessness:

1.    First of all you have to be very patient and disciplined. Children learn from their parents very soon. So, follow a routine. Do not give up too fast. To make your stubborn child listen to you will have to be consistent in giving efforts. Do not lose hope so easily. One day you will definitely achieve the skill of controlling the bad behaviour of your kids.

2.    Children need their parents’ attention quite often and when they do not get it they feel quite frustrated and do such kind of things which their parents do not like. So, give some time from your busy schedule to your children. Try to understand their needs and desires.

3.    Parents always want that their kids should behave like an adult. What they forget here is that kids do not have developed brain power and they cannot distinguish between good and bad. So, try to make them understand what is good and what is bad. Try to explain this to them through stories. As kids love listening to stories, this way can also be better utilized for spending quality time with your kids.

4.    Taking short naps with your child will definitely make you feel more relaxed. Moms often think to complete all the chores like laundry, cleaning the house or gardening while her kids are taking some sleep. Remember that work can be finished later. A powerful afternoon nap will let your frustration go away from you and when you get up you will feel more energetic to deal with your kids as well as your household chores.

5.    If your kids are behaving very badly and taking the house on storm then one way to stop them is to tell them to help you in some of your work. For example, you can tell your kids to help you in doing laundry by taking clothes from your bedroom to the washing machine or they can help you in gardening by watering the little plants. This way your kids will get engaged in some work and physical strain will tire them. Hence, they will not trouble you while eating and will also go to sleep soon making things better for you.

Shortly, we can say that relaxing while your kids are driving you crazy is not a difficult task. All you need is to apply some common sense and be patient while your efforts show some results. Children need care and love. Give them what they want but in a wise manner to make things easier for you.

Help You Make It To Your Flight - A Parody Of The New Airport Security Procedures

Tuesday, December 21, 2010 Posted by Shattered Paradigm

Have you been through the new airport security procedures yet?  If so, what do you think about them?  Did anyone in your family have to be subjected to the new "enhanced pat-downs"?  The truth is that there are really good reasons why so many Americans are getting so angry about these new security procedures.  If you want to get on an airplane in the United States today, you either have to allow gawking security officials look at your completely exposed body using the new full body security scanners, or you have to let allow a security official to grope and feel up every inch of your body.  Yes, including "those" parts.  You may not object to this kind of search, but how would you feel about your wife or teenage daughter or young son being touched on the private areas by complete strangers?

Fortunately, many people are now speaking out about this outrage.  Some Americans are even using comedy and humor to fight back.  For example, the video posted below is a great parody but it also makes some very serious points.  The video was produced by Buck Howdy and it is entitled "Help You Make It To Your Flight".  It is a takeoff on Kris Kristofferson's classic hit "Help Me Make It Through The Night".  Howdy's "revised lyrics" are so hilarious that more than two million people have watched it so far on YouTube.

If you have not seen this yet, you have got to check it out....

The full lyrics of "Help You Make it to Your Flight" are posted below....

Take the ribbon from your hair
Shake it loose and let it fall
Leave your shoes right over there
Now get up against the wall

I'll run my hands inside your thighs
Up your legs and out of sight!
But you can trust the TSA
To help you make it to your flight

We don't profile that'd be wrong
Just ask the ACLU
We'd rather check your nooks and crannies
Every inch of you

Got no life except my job
But I don't mind it's all right
I get to grope you legally
If you want to take a flight

This badge and uniform we wear
Might look like a rent a cop
But your life is in our hands
We like it that way, especially if you're hot

Awful lonely being me
No girlfriend, boyfriend, husband, wife
So let me squeeze you, oooh, right there
If you want to take a flight

You can trust the TSA
You'll be in our dreams tonight

It is good to see the American people standing up like this.  We should not have to be sexually groped before we get on an airplane.

If you want to send a message that you do not like to be groped by TSA agents or anyone else, then we would encourage you to check out the new line of "Don't Touch My Junk" clothing available on Amazon.com.

The 2 Year Old Boy Who Is A Football Expert

Friday, May 14, 2010 Posted by Shattered Paradigm

The video posted below is one of the funniest videos that we have seen in a long, long time.  It contains footage of a 2 year old boy named Ben who can name all of the teams in the NFL by just looking at their helmets.

Not only that, Ben has been taught some other very interesting things about teams in the NFL.  For example, to Ben the Cowboys are actually "the Cowgirls", the Chargers are "one and done", and the Vikings are "whiny crybabies".

But what is the point of having a marriage and family if you can't teach your kid about football?....

Tips for Travelling with Children

Tips for Travelling with Children

Author: Andrew Regan

Travelling with your children can be a truly rewarding experience, enabling you to witness their experience of new and exciting surroundings. However, it can also be an extremely trying task, as many young children can become impatient or fussy on long trips. Follow a few simple tips during your family travels, and help ensure the experience is pleasant for both you and your children.

No matter where you’re travelling or what mode of transportation you choose to take, there are a few essentials that you should always pack along. For instance, if your child has a favourite toy or blanket, bringing it on the trip can help them feel more secure. Packing a few new toys can also keep them entertained during the journey, particularly if you wrap them up and let your child open them. They needn’t be big or expensive– most toy stores offer a variety of affordable and compact toys to choose from.

If you’re travelling by plane, there are many steps you can take to ensure the trip is more comfortable for your children. To begin, enquire whether the airline you’re travelling with offers any facilities for young children. Many, for example, will allow early boarding, allocate aisle seating, and even supply activities or small toys for children. Airline staff will also usually warm up bottles and baby foods on request, and sometimes offer special treats for kids. However, snacks are another important thing for you to pack, as your child might not necessarily like what’s offered in-flight. What’s more, if you end up getting delayed at either end of your trip, it could definitely help to have some snacks handy. Use a backpack to carry toys, snacks, and other travel supplies, as this will leave your hands free in case you need to carry your child.

If you’re travelling by car, you might want to pack along some story and song tapes or CDs, in addition to their favourite toys. If you’re renting a car, also ensure you book a child seat or take your own with you. It’s always best to try and coincide your car journey with your baby’s usual sleep time; however, if the journey is long, ensure you take breaks along the way. Many parents might be tempted to get long stretches of driving out of the way at once, but children tend to get restless on long car rides – so make sure you stop every few hours. During the day, ensure the sun isn’t shining directly onto your child’s face, as this can make them uncomfortable. If it happens to be a sunny day, apply sunscreen to your child, or have them wear a hat. A window sunshade can also come in handy.

Finally, it might help to look into family friendly hotels for your stay. For instance if you're travelling to Chicago, you’ll find that many Chicago hotels offer services dedicated to children and families alike – whether it’s a play area, children’s meals, or even a babysitting service.

Keeping a few tips like these in mind can help ensure your travels are comfortable and enjoyable – for both you and your child.

Panic Attacks In Children

Panic Attacks in Children

by Colin Eagle

Panic attacks in children are quite common, but they are often overlooked. Most of the time they go untreated because many adults tend to believe that children bear no responsibility, so therefore should not be developing stress. However, nothing could be further from the truth. It is an unfortunate reality that panic attacks occur in children. In children, panic attacks can interfere with their ability to make relationships, their schoolwork and a normal healthy development. For some children, it becomes so severe that they try to avoid certain situations for fear that an panic attack might occur. If left untreated, some children may start to show signs of self-destructive or even suicidal behaviour.

Children who have a fear of the dark are at an increased risk of going on to develop panic attacks and depression as adults. Manifestations of panic in children alters as a child grows, and it is a known fact that most chronic panic and mood disorders experienced by adults were at some point preceded by panic attacks as a child.

The first sign that your child may be experiencing panic attacks is withdrawal. If your child is constantly avoiding social situations, trying to get out of going to school, isolating themselves or not wanting to be separated from you, they may be dealing with panic attacks on a regular basis.

The second sign is that they may often seem sad and overstressed. If your child does not seem to laugh or play often, then they may be suffering from panic attacks. You should try to talk to them about their problems and how they feel. This allows them to feel better and teaches them that it is perfectly normal and okay to have these feelings.

The third sign is if they seem easily hurt or upset when told that they have done something wrong.

You should also note that many of the physical symptoms of panic attacks are the same in children as they are in adults.

These include high blood pressure and rapid heartbeat, sweating, chest pains, feeling dizzy and difficulty breathing.

These can lead to a multitude of other problems including stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, ulcers, weakness and shortness of breath.

Because the symptoms of panic attacks are the same in both children and adults, the treatments that are directed at adults are just as effective in children. If you think your child suffers from panic attacks, it is always best to see your doctor. Although this will mean they are usually prescribed medication, you should also try natural solutions as is recommended for an adult i.e. a healthy diet, regular exercise, a good sleeping pattern and breathing and relaxation techniques. As well as these treatments, psychotherapy is also available as a treatment option for panic attacks in children and they are highly effective. One natural technique to stop panic fast in children is cognitive behavioural therapy, which has been proven to work extremely well.

The Advantages of Cloth Diapers

The Advantages of Cloth Diapers

Author: William Olivia

Article Source: the-advantages-of-cloth-diapers

Cloth diapers fell out of favor for a few decades after disposable diapers hit the market, but in the last several years they are quickly gaining popularity again.  There are many reasons that today's moms love cloth diapers, and with new styles and a better fit, there isn't any reason to not use them.  In fact, cloth diapers can be just as convenient, and are often more comfortable than the disposables.

One of the most obvious reasons to consider cloth diapers is their cost.  You can save hundreds of dollars by using cloth instead of the more expensive disposable diapers.  Although the initial cost of cloth diapers is higher, you can use them over and over and the cost of washing them is minimal.  If you invest in enough cloth diapers to get you through a few days, you have enough to last the year.  They're also more convenient - simply do your diaper laundry on a regular basis and you'll never have to run to the corner store again because you've run out of diapers in the middle of the night!

Mothers who use cloth diapers on their children rarely have to contend with diaper rash because cloth diapers breathe.  Disposable diapers, on the other hand, trap and hold moisture next to the skin.  They are waterproof on the outside and the skin can't breathe, so diaper rashes are more common.  In warm weather, a baby in a breathable cloth diaper is less likely to get prickly heat.

Babies have extremely sensitive skin, and keeping chemicals, perfumes and other irritants away from their skin is important.  Children also tend to have less chemical sensitivity as they grow older if they aren't constantly exposed to chemical irritants as babies.  Unfortunately, nearly all disposable diapers use a variety of chemicals to enhance their absorption ability.  Cloth diapers are usually made of cotton or wool, which are both soft, natural materials that soothe the skin without irritation.

Parents who use cloth diapers also tend to be able to potty train their children more quickly.  Because cloth diapers don't have moisture-absorbing additives, children can quickly sense when they are wet and will be more receptive to potty training.  Babies in cloth diapers are also usually changed into a clean diaper more quickly because parents can easily tell when the diaper is damp, which leads to less diaper irritation.

Today's parents are environmentally aware and most of them hate the idea of putting hundreds of used, disposable diapers into our landfills.  Sadly, disposable diapers are often the most common item taking up space in landfills, and they take generations to biodegrade because they're made from artificial materials.  Because they contain body wastes, they can contaminate nearby ground soil with urine and feces.  Cloth diapers, on the other hand, are washed and reused rather than ending up in landfills.  You flush away any waste before washing, so that the waste is properly handled by a septic or sewage system, and laundering them with biodegradable, environmentally friendly detergents makes them an even better ecological choice.

Some parents who haven't tried cloth diapers have the mistaken notion that they are more difficult to use.  They remember the bulky, awkward squares of cloth that had to be properly folded, pinned into place and then covered with uncomfortable plastic pants.  But today's cloth diapers are nothing like the kind your mother or grandmother used.  Today's cloth diapers feature snap closures and adjustable Velcro fasteners for a comfortable fit and easy changing.  You can get separate diaper covers made of cotton or wool, or use all-in-one cloth diapers, depending on what is convenient for you.   Most cloth diapers are pre-folded and form fitting so there's no need to fuss with trying to fold them properly, and many are available with cloth liners for easy cleaning and added wetness protection.

Disposable diapers are becoming less popular each year as more and more parents realize that cloth diapers offer the best fit, value and comfort for their children.

Do You Have A Family With Young Children? - Tips For Potty Training Your Toddler

Thursday, December 31, 2009 Posted by Shattered Paradigm

Toilet Training Your Toddler

Potty training time can be very difficult for parents and their toddlers alike. While different children will always have different reactions to potty training, your child can experience apprehension, fear, and even anger at potty training time. There are many different studies on the subject of potty training. In this article you will learn the facts about potty training—the facts that are backed up by experts and researchers that have studied potty training methods and progress.

When you're ready to start potty training your toddler, you need all the tools and resources you can get. Not having the proper resources can leave you lost and wondering.

In fact, that's what happened to Sherry Clark. Sherry felt pressured by her in-laws to toilet train her daughter Cheyenne before she turned three years old. The problem was that Cheyenne didn't display any signs of being ready to toilet train, and Sherry's family sort of left her to make her own decisions. "I really felt like I was doing a terrible job as a parent, because Cheyenne didn't want anything to do with potty training. In fact, I probably prolonged the process because I pushed her into training when she clearly wasn't ready," says Sherry. According to child specialist Theresa Cornwell, Sherry may be exactly right. "Toilet training depends on the parent and the child. Both have to be ready and prepared for the changes. Forcing a child to use the toilet may only stunt her progress."

Sherry decided to simply wait and let Cheyenne come to terms with using the toilet before she tried to train her again. In just a few months, Sherry tried again and was successful. In fact, the actual training time went very quickly and with very few incidents.

Here are some of the best-known ways to toilet train your toddler.

Do Not Panic

Often, parents can think there is something wrong with their child because he or she is 3 or 4 years old and they aren't potty trained. Children develop differently, and some children may simply be late bloomers. This is most definitely not a reason to believe there is something wrong with your child. The child's gender may even have something to do with it. In fact, researchers have found that girls are easier to toilet train than boys are. There are many reasons that this is true, including the fact that girls comprehend language earlier than boys and may therefore understand your teachings more quickly than a boy would.

One of the biggest messages that experts try to get parents to understand is that you shouldn't panic. If your child is a late bloomer, it doesn't mean there is something wrong with him or her at all.

Use Consistency

One of the most important things a parent can do when toilet training their toddler is to be consistent. This is the fastest way to teach your child how to use the toilet. For example, as soon as your child wakes up in the morning, take them to the bathroom.

Offer a small prize for using the potty. One thing that many parents do is to place a clear jar in the bathroom with small treats and cheap toys. The child sees this and knows that if he or she successfully uses the toilet, they will get one. Continue this every morning without fail so that your child becomes accustomed to and familiar with the process.

Another way that you can use consistency is to inform other caretakers of the potty-training plan. If your child just loves spending time with Grandma and Grandpa, and does so frequently, let Grandma and Grandpa in on the plan. This way, even if you're not there, the same process will be followed, which should put the child at ease. If each different caretaker uses different methods to help your child use the toilet, it can get very confusing. By simply discussing the methods you're using with any other caretakers, you can speed up the training time and keep things consistent.

When is Your Child Ready?

Although each child develops differently, experts agree there are a few things to look for that will signal your child is ready to begin toilet training. Since they will not be able to learn how to use the toilet until the muscles of their bladder and bottom are fully developed, you will want to look for the following:

* Your child can go several hours without emptying his or her bladder.

* Your child goes all night without wetting his or her diaper.

* Your child is mature enough to listen and understand what you say, as well as to communicate with you. This way, they can communicate the fact that they need to use the bathroom.

* Your child is starting to notice that when he or she eliminates in his or her diaper, it is dirty. They may not like the fact that they are dirty.

Any or all of these signs may tell you that your child is ready to begin potty training, and there are a few other things you will want to keep in mind when you are toilet training your toddler. Praise is the best method, and experts agree that a child should never be scolded for accidents. This could make them develop a complex about using the potty.

In fact, a study was done in which the researchers asked parents to praise their children and speak of defecation in a positive way to them. This study was published in the Archives of Pediatric Adolescent Medicine. The researchers found that when parents spoke positively about defecation, the child was less likely to want to hide during the process and responded better to toilet training. It can be difficult to potty train your child, but with consistency and praise, you can soon say goodbye to diapers!

The Incredibly Touching Story Of One Young 6 Year Old Boy Who Died Of Leukemia

Friday, February 13, 2009 Posted by Shattered Paradigm

The following story was emailed to us today. It is supposedly a true story, but we cannot vouch for that. It is, however, a very moving tale.....

-----

In Phoenix , Arizona , a 26-year-old mother stared down at her 6 year old son, who was dying of terminal leukemia.

Although her heart was filled with sadness, she also had a strong feeling of determination.

Like any parent, she wanted her son to grow up & fulfill all his dreams. Now that was no longer possible. The leukemia would see to that. But she still
wanted her son's dream to come true.

She took her son' s hand and asked, 'Billy, did you ever think about what you wanted
to be once you grew up?

Did you ever dream and wish what you would do with your life?'

Mommy, 'I always wanted to be a fireman when I grew up.'

Mom smiled back and said, 'Let's see if we can make your wish come true.'

Later that day she went to her local fire Department in Phoenix, Arizona, where she met Fireman Bob, who had a heart as big as Phoenix.

She explained her son's final wish and asked if it might be possible to give her 6 year-old son a ride around the block on a fire engine.

Fireman Bob said, 'Look, we can do better than that. If you'll have your son ready at seven o'clock Wednesday morning, we'll make him an honorary Fireman for the whole day. He can come down to the fire station, eat with us, go out on all the fire calls, the whole nine yards! And if you'll give us his sizes, we'll get a real fire uniform for him, with a real fire hat - not a toy -- one-with the emblem of the Phoenix Fire Department on it, a yellow slicker like we wear and rubber boots.'

'They're all manufactured right here in Phoenix, so we can get them fast.'

Three days later Fireman Bob picked up Billy, dressed him in his uniform and escorted him from his hospital bed to the waiting hook and ladder truck.

Billy got to sit on the back of the truck and help steer it back to the fire station. He was in heaven.

There were three fire calls in Phoenix that day and Billy got to go out on all three calls.

He rode in the different fire engines, the Paramedic's' van, and even the fire chief's car.

He was also videotaped for the local news program.

Having his dream come true, with all the love and attention that was lavished upon him, so deeply touched Billy, that he lived three months longer than any doctor thought possible.

One night all of his vital signs began to drop dramatically and the head nurse, who believed in the hospice concept - that no one should die alone, began to call the family members to the hospital.

Then she remembered the day Billy had spent as a Fireman, so she called the Fire Chief and asked if it would be possible to send a fireman in uniform to the hospital to be with Billy as he made his transition.

The chief replied, 'We can do better than that. We'll be there in five minutes. Will you please do me a favor?

When you hear the sirens screaming and see the lights flashing, will you announce over the PA system that there is not a fire?'

'It's the department coming to see one of its finest members one more time. And will you open the window to his room?'

About five minutes later a hook and ladder truck arrived at the hospital and extended its ladder up to Billy's third floor open window--------16 fire-fighters climbed up the ladder into Billy's room.

With his mother's permission, they hugged him and held him and told him how much they LOVED him.

With his dying breath, Billy looked up at the fire chief and said, 'Chief, am I really a fireman now?'

'Billy, you are, and The Head Chief, Jesus, is holding your hand,' the chief said.

With those words, Billy smiled and said, 'I know, He's been holding my hand all day, and the angels have been singing.'

He closed his eyes one last time.

Another Reason To Tell Our Teens To Wait For Marriage - Over 50 Percent Of 15 To 19 Year Olds Admit Having Oral Sex

Sunday, July 06, 2008 Posted by Shattered Paradigm

This is another example of the decline of traditional values in our nation.

In a new federal survey, over half of both male and female 15 to 19 year old teenagers admit to having engaged in oral sex.

Think about that.

More teenagers have practiced oral sex than have not.

These are kids who have not even reached their 20th birthday yet.

It sure makes one think twice about putting kids in public schools that is for certain.

Can the wickedness of this nation get much worse?

What are we teaching our kids that they would act this way?

This story brought the following verse to mind:

"Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold"

--Matthew 24:12
